Because We Love to Play Music
The Lone Star Symphonic Band is an adult community organization comprised of volunteers from the Greater Houston area. The Band membership is composed of individuals from various walks of life and range in age from high school students up through members in their upper eighties. The Band is a diverse group of people who have a common tie that brings everyone together: the love of performing music for the community.
The Band has performed numerous concerts throughout Greater Houston. Some of the notable performances by the Band include concerts at the Stafford Centre (2004, 2007), Sienna Plantation Amphitheatre (2001), Reliant Stadium (2007, 2008), The Centrum (2008), the Kemah Boardwalk (2005), and the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens (2003), as well as many high school performing arts centers across the city. The Band is dedicated to providing quality performances for audiences located throughout Greater Houston.

The Lone Star Symphonic Band offers the community quality performances balancing audience appeal with challenging literature for its members. We promote lifelong opportunities and growth for skilled musicians. The Band is committed to providing a valuable contribution to the American Concert Band tradition.

We engage all audiences in performances of artistic merit, offering a blend of appealing, interesting, and varied musical selections. We provide opportunities for each band member to grow both musically and personally within a supporting environment.
History of the LSSB
The Band was originally formed in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band under the direction of Tom Stuchbery.
In late November 2002 the West Houston Concert Band reorganized as the Lone Star Symphonic Band in an effort to reach out to a broader geographical range of listeners and patrons in the Greater Houston area and across Texas.

Mr. Bob Bryant, one of the most highly esteemed music educators across Texas, has conducted the Lone Star Symphonic Band for the past 15 years.
Board of Directors
The LSSB is a 501c(3) Organization with a Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Band and works closely with the Music Director to make sure the Band is successful in all aspects of operations and performances.
